For those nature lovers traveling to New York City, there isn’t much better than Central Park bike tours. While you are enjoying your trip, don’t miss these gorgeous gardens.
Arguably the hub of the Central Park, you definitely want to stop by Conservancy Garden while on your bike tour. This formal garden is open daily from 8 a.m. until dusk and provides a calm, peaceful area away from runners and cyclists, so you will need to park your bike. The garden itself is arranged after three distinct styles: Italian, French, and English, spanning a full 6 acres. Don’t forget to bring your camera, because the area is filled with photo opportunities.
These gardens are designed after the famous bard’s literary works, and they can be found sprinkled across the U.S. The most famous one is in Central Park. Bike tours can take you through the peaceful lanes lined with beautiful flowers and plants mentioned in the poet’s work. There are also numerous plants that were once featured in Shakespeare’s own garden at Stratford-upon-Avon. There are 4 acres of gardens for you to enjoy, filled with rosemary, pansies, and a white mulberry tree that came from a graft of one planted by Shakespeare. You’ll find quotes from his work on bronze plaques sprinkled throughout the gardens.
This 2.5-acre garden is located between 71st and 74th streets, created as a tribute to the late John Lennon. He and wife Yoko lived in Dakota Apartments, which is adjacent to this area of the park. It was here that he was murdered in 1980. In 1981, to commemorate his many talents and memory, this area was designated Strawberry Fields. It was his and Yoko’s favorite place in the park. Yoko donated $1 million to have it re-landscaped and have the white-and-black iconic “Imagine” mosaic designed. You will find this in the center of the gorgeously landscaped fields.
Every summer, you will find this amusement park and garden occupying Wollman Rink. While you will see plenty of pretty landscaping, you will also find 12 different rides, including the Hydro Racer, Rockin’ Tug, Family Swinger, and Fun Slide. In addition to the amusement rides, there is a large selection of carnival games for you to enjoy.
The name means “beautiful view” in Italian, and it offers precisely that. Here you can see some of the most famous landmarks and beautiful gardens from the two balconies on the castle. It also offers binoculars and tips to those who want to birdwatch, making it a wonderful destination for Central Park bike tours.
