3 Spots Where You Can Enjoy Live Music While Using a Central Park Bike Rental

One of the amazing things about a Central Park bike rental is that the entire space is at your disposal with some help from a bicycle. This means that you can enjoy live music in addition to food and other attractions no matter where in the park they are. That’s because it won’t take too long to get there. If you are in the mood for live music, check out one of these locations.

Central Park Bike Rental on the Great Lawn

The Great Lawn is more than just a vast green space perfect for picnics during your bike rental Central Park. It also regularly hosts concerts. These performances take place under a sky full of stars, creating a truly memorable experience. The New York Philharmonic regularly performs here, as does the Metropolitan Opera, both of which have played with famous musicians like Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, and Luciano Pavarotti. Andrea Bocelli, Elton John, Paul Simon, Dave Matthews, Diana Ross, the Black Eyed Peas, and Bon Jovi as well as other stars have also played here.

Naumburg Bandshell

The Naumburg Bandshell is actually dedicated to hosting music events in Central Park. This means you only need to check the schedule, ride your cheap bike rental NYC there, lock it up, and sit back to enjoy a show. During the summer, check out the Naumburg Orchestral Concert series for free classical music concerts. The Naumburg Bandshell has a long history of music, as it began in 1862 as a cast-iron bandstand where you see the current Beethoven statue. At first, it only played classical music. But by the 1920s, it played popular music too. In 1923, the Bandstand was acoustically outdated. That’s when they constructed the Naumburg Bandshell. Interestingly enough, this is the only neo-classical building in the park.

Rumsey Playfield

Rumsey Playfield is the perfect spot in Central Park to listen to music. You can also head here to watch a film, dance performance, or spoken word performance. This is actually where the SummerStage cultural series takes place. Over the years, names like Vampire Weekend, Curtis Mayfield, the Beastie Boys, and Toni Morrison, among others, have played here. SummerStage began in 1990, starting the space’s musical tradition. Before this, the area had multiple incarnations. These included a ladies’ refreshment saloon (where proper Victorian women were able to dine without escorts), a formal restaurant for co-ed dining, an Art Deco nightclub, the Mary Harriman Rumsey Playground, and an area for gym classes.

There is so much to do with a Central Park bike rental, from listening to music to dining to just riding around. Book your tickets today.
